This episode explores the outcomes from the mitigation and adaptation commitments at COP29.
As cities transition from climate commitments and policy design to delivery, this session provides insights on how they are collaborating and developing partnerships globally to accelerate climate action implementation, highlighting some of the broader challenges and opportunities.

Hosted by Dr Katherine Maxwell, Research Associate & Visiting Fellow, University of Oxford, with guest, Professor Michele Acuto, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement and Professor of Urban Resilience, University of Bristol

Professor Michele Acuto specializes on the relation between urban governance and planetary challenges, and has worked with UN agencies, philanthropy and both local and national governments on urban policy. Michele has a wide-ranging university management track record in the UK and Australia, alongside significant diplomatic experience in the multilateral sector outside academia focused on urban development and international relations and centered on global health and climate resilience. He is also currently Managing Editor of Urban Studies. He is the author of, recently, How to Build a Global City (Cornell) and Managing Cities At Night (Bristol).

Dr Katherine Maxwell is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Global Centre on Healthcare and Urbanisation (GCHU) at Kellogg College, University of Oxford. She is also Technical Director - Net Zero Cities at Sweco UK. With over a decade of experience working with municipalities on their ambitious sustainability strategies, Dr Maxwell has worked with C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, LSE Cities, The University of Edinburgh, Cambridge ZERO and the Scottish Government.
